Your guide to ZeroPoint™ foods

No matter which colour you’re on—Green, Blue, or Purple—you have a list of simple, easy-to-have-on-hand foods that are designated as ZeroPoint foods. These foods have—you guessed it!—zero SmartPoints®, which means that you can enjoy them without the need for weighing, measuring, or tracking.

3 fast facts

  1. WW clinical trials show that members can eat ZeroPoint foods without tracking or measuring and still lose weight, no matter which colour they’re on!

  2. ZeroPoint foods were specifically chosen because the health guidelines recommend eating them more frequently as part of a healthy eating pattern.

  3. ZeroPoint foods aren’t all-you-can-eat. Sure, you could eat 13 bananas, but would you want to? (And is that a healthy pattern of eating?) ZeroPoint foods signal how often, not how much.

ZeroPoint foods by colour

On myWW™, all three colours have different amounts of ZeroPoint foods—and a personalized SmartPoints Budget to balance it.

  • Green has a list of 100+ ZeroPoint foods with a sizable SmartPoints Budget.

  • Blue has a list of 200+ ZeroPoint foods with a moderate SmartPoints Budget.

  • Purple has a list of 300+ ZeroPoint foods with a modest SmartPoints Budget.

This week’s technique

Okay, you’ve got this list of ZeroPoint foods…but now what? Start by picking one or more of these tips this week to help you make the most of your ZeroPoint foods.

  1. Create your personalized list. Identify three of your favourite ZeroPoint foods. Then, choose three new foods to try from the list.

  2. Make it work for you. ZeroPoint foods are a great way to help you stay within your SmartPoints Budget. Think about how you could use them for snacks, as the base for meals, or to add variety to your favourite recipes this week.

  3. Decide when you’ll use it. Are there two meals or snacks you could add them to this week? When will you do it?

You’re probably wondering…

Why were some foods chosen as ZeroPoint foods but not others?

The foods that made it on to each list were chosen based on 1) whether or not they were at high risk for overeating (not ideal) and 2) how well they would support members in developing a healthier pattern of eating (totally ideal!). They don’t need to be tracked because your SmartPoints Budget has already accounted for them—we factored in that you'll most likely eat ZeroPoint foods every day.

Why do some colours have more ZeroPoint foods than others?

The myWW program is designed to be freeing and flexible for different types of people by taking into account different ways of eating. Each colour offers a balance of ZeroPoint foods and SmartPoints. The colour with the most ZeroPoint foods has the lowest SmartPoints Budget, and the one with the fewest ZeroPoint foods has the highest SmartPoints Budget.

That's also why we offer the option of switching plans. If after a few weeks you find that a different way of eating might work better with your lifestyle, you can change it up. For example, if you discover that you love ZeroPoint foods and want to eat more of them, and don't mind having a lower SmartPoints Budget then shifting from Green or Blue or Purple might be a better fit. If you discover that you want to have more SmartPoints to spend on the foods you choose, then shifting from Blue or Purple to Green might be a better fit.

How many ZeroPoint foods can I eat?

ZeroPoint foods are a signal for how often to reach for a food, not how much we recommend eating. If you normally ate one banana a day, stick to that. Eating 13 of them just because they’re zero probably isn’t going to end well...(And is that a healthy pattern of eating?) So, stick to amounts that you would normally eat. If you want more, you can always go back!
