What Are FitPoints?
Discover our simple activity tracking system

At Weight Watchers, we know that physical activity can make people feel good, help them feel comfortable in their own skin and give them more energy. Research shows that being physically active is key for overall health and wellbeing, as well as successful, long-term weight management. With that in mind, we created our FitPoints system to help encourage you move a little more each day so you can reap the many benefits of regular exercise.
What are FitPoints?
FitPoints are units of measurement that represent the amount of activity you do. The duration and intensity of the exercise as well as your height, weight and personal assessment results are used to determine the amount of FitPoints you receive for each activity you track.
For instance, if you were to go jogging at a moderate pace for 10 minutes, you'd earn a calculated amount of FitPoints that is personalized to you and your goal. But let's say jogging isn't your thing, you're more of a swimmer. 10 minutes of moderate swimming will net you the same amount of FitPoints. It's a flexible system that is personalized to your preferences and activity level. So even if you're more inclined to enjoy a 10-minute walk than 30 minutes of circuit training you'll still be earning FitPoints for your activity and making progress towards your goal.
How are they tracked?
Easy! You can enter your activity into the My Day tracker or through our mobile app. Or if you have a fitness device (such as a Fitbit, Jawbone, or Garmin activity tracker) you can sync it directly to your Weight Watchers account and FitPoints will be automatically calculated for you. If you'd prefer to calculate your activity manually, you can do that through your Pocket Guide or in your weekly meeting.
Explore your options
Take some time to explore the many activity options in the My Day tracker. While we take into account nearly every sport from basketball, baseball and hockey to rowing, rugby and ping pong, we also measure day-to-day activities. We want you to get credit for the half hour you spend playing hide and seek with your children or catch with your dog. So no matter what you get up to during the day, make sure you keep track of your activity and you'll be amazed by how quickly you'll earn FitPoints.
Go for the goal
Your FitPoints goal will always be changing. As you increase your activity level you'll be prompted to increase your goal. However, when you first start on our program we'll give a personalized activity goal based on the information you provide in your personal assessment. From there you can change your daily goal if you're looking for more or less of a challenge. You can even do away with a goal altogether if you're not ready for fitness just yet. All of this can be easily adjusted in your Settings.
