Life is all about balance. Think about it: We try to keep our health, our happiness, our relationships, and our careers on an even, productive course every day. The same holds for maintaining our weight: It's a key life skill that can help you succeed over the long term.

Here's help in striking that balance on the scale—at any weight.

Know the basics

Your WW Freestyle weekly walks you through when and why you might choose to maintain your weight—whether or not you have reached your ultimate weight goal. Follow the three steps on page 3 to create a plan for when you do choose to hold off on weight loss. And check out seven key behaviours on page 2 that can help keep you on track while you’re maintaining.

Stay motivated

If you’ve made the decision to maintain, use the same strategies to help you stay on course that you do when in weight-loss mode. Celebrate milestones by posting about your #nsvs on Connect! After all, you’re still meeting goals even in maintenance mode, and that’s something to be proud of. Weigh yourself often as you adjust to adding 5 extra SmartPoints® to your daily Budget.

And if you go off track…

It’s okay! Setbacks and small weight gains are normal, and to be expected. The important thing is to take action when you find yourself gaining, the same way you would in weight-loss mode. Before starting maintenance mode, choose an intervention weight that will jump-start you back into losing mode. Typically, this number is between three and five pounds above your maintenance mode goal. If you see this number pop up on the scale, be kind to yourself! Just change your settings on the app back to losing mode and continue on your journey. And keep up your healthy habits, including feel-good activity. Having a mindset of success is always helpful, including in maintenance mode!
