Not quite sure what the "right" amount is when it comes to a serving size? We’ll let you in on a little secret...there is no right size. Portions are personal. What makes people feel satisfied and helps them stay within their Points® Budget can vary greatly. That’s why it’s so important to know what amount of food works for each of us. Learning what right-for-you portions are is a pretty important skill for meeting weight and wellness goals, which can then lead to some serious confidence when it comes to handling knowing what to actually eat.

3 fast facts

1. A variety of factors—including our habits, hunger level, advertising, and the Points value of food—influence how much we eat.

2. Serving sizes on packages are based on guidance from national regulators to ensure nutritional information is shown consistently. That doesn’t mean they’re recommended portion sizes!

3. Portion sizes are personal: What one person needs to feel satisfied and stay within their Points Budget can be very different from what another person needs.

Try this technique

Figure out your own portions by weighing and measuring your typical meals and snacks.

1. Serve yourself

Want to have ice cream for dessert? Scoop how much you usually eat into a bowl.

2. Measure up

Use measuring cups or a scale to see how much ice cream you’re used to having.

3. Get tracking

Check out how many Points your normal portion is in the WW app.

4. Make note

Does that feel satisfying and fit in your Budget? Great! If not, adjust until it’s *just* right.
