"When I look in the mirror, I don't always see changes - but when I see pictures of myself, I hardly recognize the girl I'm seeing."


I'm 27 years old from Cambridge, Ontario and I'm down almost 150lbs on this journey, but I've lost a total of 175lbs from my heaviest weight (over 400lbs). My life is entirely different now after having lost the weight. I used to be very shy and quiet, but now I'm so much more confident. I have tons of energy and enjoy finding new ways to keep active. Today I'm going to share some things that help keep me on track and motivated. 

Feeling satisfied

I try to make sure to get as much protein as possible with all of my meals to keep me feeling satisfied all day long to avoid overeating. This is 0% fat plain Greek yogurt, with strawberries. It is a very filling snack for only 2 Smartpoints values for the yogurt. I also will switch it up by adding different types of berries to it.  

Switch it up

I'm someone who can grow bored of routine, so it's important to switch up my workouts every now and again. I mentioned previously that I work with a personal trainer and I'm constantly learning from them and I've improved so much from when I first began. I make sure to also get in 3 cardio workouts throughout the week, and I love going for bike rides! I'm also looking into joining a kick boxing class in the near future. 

Taking a breather

Some days it can feel like I'm on the go all day long. I always make sure to set aside some time for myself in the evenings to take a breather. Sometimes I like to curl up with a good book, or I'll look up yoga videos on YouTube to help me relax. 

Looking beyond the scale

If you focus on the number on the scale, it can be easy to get discouraged. I've been on this journey for over 2 years and I'm still working towards my goal. It hasn't always been an easy road. If I slip up, I just accept that it happened and move on. There is no quick fix, it's a lifestyle change and I like Weight Watchers because it has helped me learn how to have a healthy relationship with food. When the scale doesn't seem to be moving, concentrate on little goals to keep you focused. Notice how your clothes are fitting. Take LOTS of pictures!
