Poached pears with chocolate sauce
Home-made chocolate sauce drizzled over sweet, cooked pears makes a perfectly elegant dessert.
4 medium, peeled
½ cup(s), (125ml)
60 g, chopped
- Heat a large saucepan filled with water over medium-high heat. Add pears and bring to the boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer, covered, for 20 minutes or until tender. Drain.
- Meanwhile, combine cocoa powder, milk and sugar in a small saucepan and cook, stirring, over low heat for 1–2 minutes or until combined and just warmed. Place chocolate in a heatproof bowl, then gradually add warm milk mixture, stirring constantly until melted and smooth.
- Place pears upright on serving plates. Drizzle over warm chocolate sauce and serve immediately.
