Poached pears with chocolate sauce

Home-made chocolate sauce drizzled over sweet, cooked pears makes a perfectly elegant dessert.


Ingredients
Pear(s)
4 medium, peeled
Cocoa powder
2 tbs
Reduced-fat milk
½ cup(s), (125ml)
Caster sugar
2 tsp
Dark chocolate
60 g, chopped
Instructions

Heat a large saucepan filled with water over medium-high heat. Add pears and bring to the boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer, covered, for 20 minutes or until tender. Drain.

Meanwhile, combine cocoa powder, milk and sugar in a small saucepan and cook, stirring, over low heat for 1–2 minutes or until combined and just warmed. Place chocolate in a heatproof bowl, then gradually add warm milk mixture, stirring constantly until melted and smooth.

Place pears upright on serving plates. Drizzle over warm chocolate sauce and serve immediately.
