Resources for Survivors of Sexual Violence


Going through the trauma of sexual assault or sexual violence can be terrifying and often isolating—but you are not alone. If you need help, here’s where to turn, wherever you are on your journey.

RAINN runs programs to help survivors, as well as those to prevent sexual violence, and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice. Its website provides resources on how to get help and next steps to take, as well as an online 24/7 chat.

EROC provides free, direct assistance to all survivors of gender-based and sexual violence. Its staff is also happy to meet with students and student groups to discuss on-campus efforts and how to address ongoing challenges.

National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC)

The mission of the NSVRC is “to provide leadership in preventing and responding to sexual violence through collaborating, sharing, and creating resources, and promoting research.” Its website features information about where survivors can get help.

National Alliance to End Sexual Violence (NAESV)

The National Alliance to End Sexual Violence educates the policy community about federal laws, legislation, and appropriations impacting the fight to end sexual violence. It provides information for survivors about how they might respond to the crisis and the healing process.

The NWLC has worked for more than 40 years to protect and promote equality and opportunity for women and families. It champions policies and laws that help women and girls achieve their potential at every stage of their journeys with a staff of committed advocates.

Know Your IX

Know Your IX is a survivor-and youth-led project of Advocates for Youth that aims to empower students to end sexual and dating violence in their schools. The organization “envisions a world in which all students can pursue their civil right to an education free from violence and harassment.”

The mission of 1in6 is "to help men who have had unwanted or abusive sexual experiences live healthier, happier lives." They also serve family members, friends, partners, and service providers by providing information and support resources.
