Spicy apple sauce
Give everyday meals a gourmet twist with this delectable flavour-rich sauce
3 medium, (granny smith), peeled, chopped
Fresh red chilli
1 whole, halved, deseeded
- Place apples, sugar, star anise, cinnamon, chilli and ½ cup (125ml) cold water in a small saucepan.
- Bring to the boil over high heat. Reduce heat to low and simmer, covered, for 10 minutes or until apple has softened. Remove from heat and set aside to cool. Remove and discard chilli and spices and stir until almost smooth before serving.
- Serve with grilled pork fillet, skinless duck or chicken breast fillet.
