Roasted tomato sauce
Give everyday meals a gourmet twist with this delectable flavour-rich sauce
1000 g, (roma), coarsley chopped
1 medium, finely chopped
4 clove(s), crushed
2 tsp, (brown)
- Preheat oven to 180°C or 160°C fan-forced. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
- Place tomatoes and onion in a single layer, on prepared tray. Scatter with garlic, mustard seeds and thyme. Drizzle with olive oil.
- Bake for 1 hour 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, or until very soft. Transfer to a food processor with 1 tbs balsamic vinegar and 3 tsp brown sugar. Process for 30 seconds or until almost smooth. Serve with steak, pork, chicken, fish or pasta.
