A ripe pear looks so simple on its own, but slowly baked then drizzled with a simple-to-make rich chocolate sauce transforms it into an elegant dessert

Ingredients
Pear(s)
4 small
Reduced fat oil spread
2 tsp, melted
Golden syrup
2 tsp
Cocoa powder
1 tbs
Cornflour
1 tbs
Skim milk
1 cup(s), (250ml)
Caster sugar
1½ tbs
Instructions
1
Preheat oven to 190°C or 170°C fan-forced. Peel pears and halve lengthways, leaving stems intact. Place pears, cut-side up, in an ovenproof dish just large enough to fit them in a single layer. Drizzle with spread and syrup. Bake for 40-45 minutes, basting occasionally, or until golden and tender.

Meanwhile, whisk cocoa, cornflour and milk in a small saucepan. Stir in sugar and heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, for 3–4 minutes or until mixture boils and thickens. Pour sauce into small pots. Serve chocolate sauce with pears.
