Spend a little time making this satisfying maple roasted DIY muesli and vary your toppings each morning by alternating sunflower seeds, hazelnuts and dried figs.


Dry rolled oats

1½ cup(s), (135g)

Wheat flakes

1½ cup(s), (60g)

Rolled barley flakes

110 g, (1 cup)

Sweetened puffed rice cereal

1 cup(s), brown (25g)

Wheat bran

1 cup(s), bran flakes

Maple syrup

cup(s), (105ml)

Grapeseed oil

2 tbs

Puffed quinoa

45 g, (1½ cups)


  1. Preheat oven to 180°C. Line two large baking trays with baking paper. Combine oats, wheat flakes, barley, puffed rice and bran flakes in a large bowl.
  2. Place maple syrup in a small jug. Heat in microwave on HIGH (100%) for 20 seconds or until hot. Stir in oil. Add maple mixture to oat mixture and toss well to combine.
  3. Spread oat mixture in an even layer on prepared trays. Bake, stirring occasionally, for 18-20 minutes or until golden and crisp. Stir in quinoa. Cool. Store in airtight container.


SERVING SUGGESTION: 99% fat-free plain yoghurt. TIP: Muesli will keep in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
