Apple and oat crisp
An easy crumble recipe that uses apple juice to naturally sweeten and add extra apple flavour. The chocolate melts over the top so that when you dig in you’ll get a hint of creamy, chocolatey goodness.
Red apple, peeled
6 medium, chopped into 2cm pieces
Apple juice no added sugar
¼ cup(s), cloudy juice, (60ml)
⅓ cup(s), (30g)
3 tsp, melted
20 g, chopped
- Preheat oven to 180°C.
- Combine apples, cinnamon, apple juice and 2 tablespoons water in a large saucepan over medium heat. Bring to the boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until apples are tender and liquid has almost evaporated.
- Transfer apples to a small baking dish (about 15cm x 22cm). Combine oats and coconut oil in a small bowl. Scatter oat mixture and chocolate over apples. Bake for 20 minutes or until oats are golden and chocolate has melted. Serve hot.
Add it: For a little extra yumminess, add a dollop of 99% fat-free yoghurt per serve.
