An easy crumble recipe that uses apple juice to naturally sweeten and add extra apple flavour. The chocolate melts over the top so that when you dig in you’ll get a hint of creamy, chocolatey goodness.

Ingredients

Red apple, peeled

6 medium, chopped into 2cm pieces

Apple juice no added sugar

¼ cup(s), cloudy juice, (60ml)

Quick oats

cup(s), (30g)

Coconut oil

3 tsp, melted

Dark chocolate

20 g, chopped

Ground cinnamon

1½ tsp

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C.
  2. Combine apples, cinnamon, apple juice and 2 tablespoons water in a large saucepan over medium heat. Bring to the boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until apples are tender and liquid has almost evaporated.
  3. Transfer apples to a small baking dish (about 15cm x 22cm). Combine oats and coconut oil in a small bowl. Scatter oat mixture and chocolate over apples. Bake for 20 minutes or until oats are golden and chocolate has melted. Serve hot.

Notes

Add it: For a little extra yumminess, add a dollop of 99% fat-free yoghurt per serve.
