Weight loss expectations
Wondering how quickly you’ll lose weight? Here are some things to bear in mind.

Healthy weight loss expectations
There’s no ‘one rule’ about how much weight you’ll lose every week because no two people are the same. But, a good-to-know fact is that the WeightWatchers Points Program is designed to result in a healthy, safe and sustainable rate of weight loss of 0.5kg to 1kg per week – although don’t be surprised if you see more in your first few weeks on the program.
Recent research shows that smaller, consistent losses week after week are more likely to result in successful long-term weight loss, compared to programs that deliver more drastic, erratic weight loss in the first few weeks. Plus, rapid weight loss often relies on eating a very restrictive diet – and not only is that likely to be unsustainable long-term, it can also mean cutting out food groups so that you’re depriving yourself of key nutrients.
Don’t worry though, if the scales don’t shift – or don’t shift as much as usual – some weeks. Plateaus aren’t an inevitable part of a weight-loss journey, but they are common. You can learn more about plateaus, and how to move past them, here.
