Tracking tip: Search for a specific restaurant’s menu item first; if it’s not in the database, track a similar dish from a different restaurant.

Points-saving hacks

  1. Starting with a coffee? Keep an eye out for Vietnamese iced coffee which is made with condensed milk and is worth 11 Points. Try to stick with iced black coffee, or a hot black coffee for 0 Points.

  2. Most entrée-style salads are substantial enough to be enjoyed as a main if you’re not sharing with others. To bulk the salad up further, order a side of veggies to toss through for extra fibre, vitamins and minerals.

  3. Nuoc cham is the most traditional dressing for majority of Vietnamese salads, but if you’d like to save Points, ask for soy sauce instead. You’ll save 3 Points per 2 tbs.

  4. Want a lower-Point dipping sauce for your rice paper rolls? Try nuoc cham or soy sauce for up to 3 Points per 2 tbs. The hoisin dipping sauce at Vietnamese restaurants tends to be mixed with peanut butter, increasing the fat, kilojoules and Points to 4 Points per 2 tbs.

  5. If you have the option to, order just half a banh mi roll and use the extra Points to enjoy an entrée or dessert. If ordering half a roll isn’t an option, think about saving half of it for your next meal so you can enjoy an entrée or dessert.
