Packaged crinkle-cut (raw) butternut squash is just begging to be turned into fries. We bake them with simple seasonings so that they’ll go with any main dish, from burgers to baked chicken to quesadillas. Look for pre-cut squash in the produce section of stores like Trader Joe’s, or cut your own squash with a crinkle-cut knife. For the best browning and crisping, make sure you don’t line the pan with foil or parchment paper; contact with the hot metal is what you’re after.

Ingredients

Cooking spray

4 spray(s)

Uncooked butternut squash

1 pound(s), crinkle-cut shape

Seasoning salt

1 tsp

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F. Coat a sheet pan with cooking spray.
  2. Arrange the squash on the pan and coat it with cooking spray. Sprinkle the seasoning salt over the squash and toss gently to coat. Bake until browned and crisp around the edges, 15 to 18 minutes, turning halfway through.
  3. Serving size: about ⅔ cup
