Coming back from the calm of summer vacation I was struck by how fast and complicated life has become. Now that my girls are busy going back to school it's time for me to pick up my hyper-busy work schedule, too.

Traveling as much as I do, my life is anything but routine. Fortunately, no matter how crazy things get, I still feel in control of my weight thanks to Weight Watchers.

Flexibility is a huge idea in weight-loss, and I think Weight Watchers is absolutely brilliant for bringing flexibility to the notoriously rigid world of dieting. As I see it, if you are a busy person – and who isn't these days? – trying to lose weight according to something ultra strict like a low-carb fad diet, will eventually become a problem. That’s because rigid diets are simply too fragile to survive a hectic lifestyle. What I love about Weight Watchers is the fact that it works like an elastic band, stretching and bending to obstacles without ever breaking. On Weight Watchers I have just enough of the structure I need to manage my weight, plus enough extra leeway to stay on track even when life suddenly throws me a curve.

Eating a balanced diet when I’m constantly on the run is indeed a bit tricky. There are times when my days on the road start so early that the hotel kitchen isn’t even open yet! Breakfast may consist of some tea, bits of vending machine Danish pastry and a few apple slices. And I'm no stranger to hodgepodge lunches and grab-and-go meals, either. On go-go-go crazy days when I can’t eat what or when I’d like, you bet I’m hungry come dinnertime. That’s when I really appreciate the POINTS allowance I have each week because it allows me to eat on the fly and still sit down and enjoy a satisfying dinner.

This past summer was wonderfully relaxing, but it's nice to come back to the real world and all its fast-paced excitement. I've gotten a lot better at accepting each day as its comes, but I can tell you it's a great deal easier for me now that I don’t have to worry obsessively about gaining weight.

Best wishes.
