We recommend converted rice because regular long-grain rice can become mushy in slow cooker recipes.
To turn up the heat, add 1/8 teaspoon of cayenne pepper with the thyme.

This is simply delicious. I use the Johnson brand beef Andouille-style sausage. It raises the point value up a bit, and to save time I use the canned diced tomato/green pepper/onion mixture. I love it!
I will have to make this a second time.I followed the instructions and the rice became so mushy and there wasn't much liquid left.the taste was great but the rice should only be added near the end, not cooked for the whole four hours.
I loved this recipe! I used 2 cloves of garlic instead of 1. It's flavorful and even has room for more spices. I'll be making this again!
