We recommend converted rice because regular long-grain rice can become mushy in slow cooker recipes.
To turn up the heat, add 1/8 teaspoon of cayenne pepper with the thyme.

The flavor was great! I agree with the other reviews and the recipe instructions to either cook the rice seperately or use parboiled. I used regular rice, and it was a bit mushy. It still tasted great so I will make it again!

Excellent for a cozy and filling lunch. I didn't have red beans at the time and I made it with white ones with same point value. Love it! I can't wait to make it again
