We recommend converted rice because regular long-grain rice can become mushy in slow cooker recipes.
To turn up the heat, add 1/8 teaspoon of cayenne pepper with the thyme.

I love this soup! It is very easy to make and tastes great! For some added spice, I like to cut up a jalapeno and also add 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper. Freezes well too!
I doubled this recipe and used organic chicken stock instead. The crock pot was so full, that I just made the rice on the side. You could eat this without the rice all together and maybe spare a point with a sprinkle of parm cheese on it!! So fragrant and delicious! Will definitely make again!!!
This was good. I couldn't find chicken andouille, though, so I substituted turkey kielbasa and added some red pepper. I'll have to check some other grocery stores to see if I can find chicken andouille to see if it makes it a bit more interesting.
