Yussy lost 26 lbs*

*At 6 months, participants in a clinical trial of the WW weight-loss program lost an average of 9.7 lbs (5% of body weight). And, people who track their food more often lose more weight. When actual WW members track their food at least two times a week for 6 months they lose on average 16.6 lbs. (7.9% body weight). Yussy lost weight on a prior program and is continuing on WeightWatchers. Watch Yussy's journey to becoming happier than ever in the video below.

In Yussy’s words:
When my son, Tyler, was 4, he looked at a framed wedding photo and said, “Who is that girl in the white dress?” He didn’t recognize me. I knew I’d put on weight during my two pregnancies, but that’s the moment I realized that I’d become someone who wore flannel pajama pants to go grocery shopping; who dug into her husband’s T-shirt drawer to find clothes that fit; who already felt old at 36. I had joined WW before, but I knew it was time to go back.

Back to what works

Going all in
When I returned to the WW Studio, I vowed that this time, I’d be fully committed to the program. I told myself that I wouldn’t quit. I attended Wellness Workshops every single week. Five months later, I became a Lifetime member. I love the support of my fellow members and my WW Coach, Shannon. I need my Wellness Check-in, I need my Coach, I need my Workshop.

My maintenance
While I don’t have the weekly positive reinforcement that I had when I was losing weight each week, I still find other ways to celebrate my success. I have so many non-scale victories that I’m proud of. The biggest of them all: having energy. I have the energy to work out; to play with my kids; to get up from the couch with the desire to do something. I’m showing my kids the healthy way to live — that’s my “why.”

Up for any challenge
I first moved to the U.S. from the Dominican Republic in March 2000. When I first came here, I landed a job and then went to college to learn English as a second language. Following that, I went to the community college to study graphic design. I felt very accomplished and empowered that I was able to do all of this in only a few years. This confidence spilled into other areas of my life. When I joined WW, I remembered all that I had accomplished in my life, and that spurred me forward.

How Yussy’s success with WW has improved her life

Fun with fashion
It is so fun to go to the store and try on clothes. It’s not about saying, “I look so awesome,” but it’s this feeling that you have when you know you can wear whatever you want and feel amazing. When I put a crop top, a bikini, a short skirt, and look in the mirror, I say, “Wow I couldn’t wear this 10 years ago, and I’m rocking it now.” I’m reliving my 20s unapologetically.

Finding myself
I feel confident, I’m a happier person. I’m a better mother, a better wife, a better human. It’s so weird to think that this all came with creating a healthier lifestyle. There used to be a dark cloud over me, and I didn’t realize it until WW made that cloud go away. Today, my family and I embrace every minute of life — and my son knows exactly who’s in the picture: “That’s Mommy.” That’s me.
