This recipe replicates the flavors of the classic sandwich, from the sauerkraut and Swiss cheese, right down to the homemade dressing, made with mayonnaise, ketchup, and pickle relish. For the best results, you should skip the canned sauerkraut and use the bagged kind sold near the hot dogs instead. Both sweet relish and dill relish work well in this recipe, so you can use whichever you prefer. We call for using the grill, but if the weather isn't cooperating, you can use a grill pan on the stove as well. You'll love the creative presentation and how simple these hot dogs are to put together no matter the time of year.
