By Amy Gorin, MS, RDN

Is your mom a great cook? Want to make it easier for her to keep it healthy? Then here are a handful of ideas for gifts guaranteed to help her do just that. If you’re scrambling for a last-minute thoughtful and creative Mother’s Day present, look no further than this list!

  1. Imlak'esh Chocolatier's Dream Gift Set ($30, imlakeshorganics.com)
eat list - mothers day gift guideWe didn’t say all gifts have to be inedible! Here’s a chocolate set that doesn’t have any added sugar. Yup, that’s right. Mom will get 100 percent cacao wafers (8 SmartPoints®  value for 10), perfect for a little treat here or there; cacao nibs (4 SmartPoints value for 2 Tbsp) that work great as a topping for plain low-fat Greek yogurt; and cacao powder (2 SmartPoints value per 2 Tbsp) that’s a nice finishing touch for fruit-based “nice cream.”
  2. OXO Good Grips Microwave Popcorn Popper ($25, oxo.com)
Hello, movie night! When you pop your own kernels, as this convenient device lets you do, they’re just 2 SmartPoints value per 2 cups. You can even add 0 SmartPoints value toppings like Italian seasoning to jazz it up. And making your own is less expensive than buying store-bought, which should make thrifty moms happy. Did we mention that the gift is dishwasher-safe?

  3. Jenaluca Herb Scissors ($14,  amazon.com)
Fresh herbs like parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme (hey, there’s a song about that!) add so much flavor to dishes — for 0 SmartPoints value. The caveat: They’re kind of a pain to chop. So use these herb scissors to quickly cut them into bite-size pieces. If you have extra, freeze them (in an ice-cube tray with water) for later.

  4. Laura Ashley Floral Heritage Tea Towels ($24, lauraashleyusa.com)
Make tea time even more precious with blossom-inspired tea towels. This gift is great on its own — or amp it up with a box of Mom’s favorite tea (or see below!).

  5. Stonewall Kitchen Raspberry Peach Tea Gift ($20, stonewallkitchen.com)
Make tea time complete with this raspberry peach tea (0 SmartPoints) and raspberry peach champagne jam (2 SmartPoints per Tbsp) — which lists fruit, not sugar, as its first ingredient.

  6. Fiesta Square Handled Serving Tray (fiestafactorydirect.com)
Want to give Mom something special to serve those roasted pears and apples on? Whether she uses it for presenting a fruit-based dessert or saves it for dinner parties and other festive occasions, this colorful tray makes preparing and serving nutritious food more fun.

  7. Pampered Chef Quick-Stir Pitcher ($21.50, pamperedchef.com)
Good-bye, fruit punch. Hello, SmartPoints-friendly fruit-infused water! Just add citrus wedges and berries to this pitcher, give it a quick mix with the plunger, and you have a (seemingly) fancy beverage to serve up at Mother’s Day brunch!

  8. FoodSaver FM5000 ($199, foodsaver.com)
Food waste is a real problem—and one that’s hard to avoid completely. But moisture-rich eats like steak and grapes may last a lot longer (up to five times, as reported by FoodSaver) when they’re vacuum-sealed. Consider going in together with your siblings or Dad on this one, since it’s on the pricier side.

  9. OXO Silicone Egg Poacher ($30, oxo.com)
Poached eggs can be daunting to make (remember that scene in Julie & Julia?), but these egg poachers help make the process a breeze. Eggs Benedict, anyone?

  10. Lucini Infused Balsamic Collection ($30, shop.lucini.com)eat list - mothers day gift guide
Vinegars add great flavor to salad dressing, and those infused with fruits like fig and cherry boost it even more. You can also drizzle them on top of fresh fruit. Per Tbsp, these gems are each 2 SmartPoints value.
