WW’s pregnancy policy

Congratulations on your growing family!

You may be wondering what your pregnancy means for your WW journey. Here’s what you need to know.

WW’s programme is not designed for pregnant members, and WW does not allow pregnant people to join.

If you’re already a member and become pregnant, it’s recommended that you cancel your WW membership. WW will be here for you post-pregnancy, when you and your healthcare provider agree that you’re ready to rejoin.

If you already have a WW membership and you and your healthcare provider decide that it’s suitable for you to keep your WW membership while pregnant, you can do so.*

1. Which WW tools are available for me during my pregnancy?

As a reminder, WW’s programme isn’t designed for pregnant members. That said, if you and your healthcare provider decide that it’s suitable for you to maintain your WW membership, you may find some of our healthy living tools a helpful resource during your pregnancy, such as:

  • WW’s database of 3,400+ recipes
  • An individualised ZeroPoint foods list based on your eating preferences (you shouldn't use this as part of a weight loss plan, but may like to refer to it to guide you towards a healthier pattern of eating)
  • Connect, WW’s supportive social network
  • Water and sleep trackers, found in the app
  • In-app meditations and workouts (make sure to exercise under the guidance of your healthcare provider)

2. Can I receive pregnancy-specific weight guidance?

No, WW cannot provide pregnancy-specific weight or wellness guidance. You should not follow any of the WW weight loss or weight maintenance guidance during your pregnancy.

If you and your healthcare provider decide that it’s suitable for you to keep your WW membership while pregnant, please note that as part of the WW app experience you will still have access to Points tracking as well as weight loss content, advice, feedback and notifications. However, you should not use these.

3. Will my Points® Budget change while I'm pregnant?

Because WW is not designed for pregnant members, you won’t see any change in the Points Budget in your app. However, you should not follow any WW weight loss or weight maintenance guidance during your pregnancy, including following a Points Budget, tracking Points, or adding Points for healthy behaviours. Talk with your healthcare provider about healthy eating patterns and other healthy habits during pregnancy.

4. Should I track my weight during my pregnancy?

Talk with your healthcare provider to determine whether weight tracking is suitable for you while pregnant. If advised by your healthcare provider, you are welcome to track your weight in the app or at a Workshop. If you choose not to track your weight, please ignore the WW app's weigh-in reminders and other weight-based notifications. You can turn off weigh-in reminders under Settings.

5. Can I join WW if I’m pregnant?

No. Because WW doesn’t have a programme designed for pregnancy, WW doesn’t allow pregnant people to join.

6. Can I rejoin WW after my pregnancy?

Yes! You are welcome to rejoin WW following your pregnancy, when you and your healthcare provider agree that you’re ready to start following the weight management programme again. If you choose to breastfeed, WW will automatically adjust your Points Budget.
