Be motivated by your light-bulb moment… After a holiday to Disney World in Florida where I couldn’t fit into the seat of my favourite ride, I knew it was time to make a change. My best friend was already a Weight Watchers member and I wanted to be a part of it, too. From my first meeting, I was committed. I started losing weight, which was fantastic. But it was when I started exercising that I really began to see a difference in my body weight. I’m now so much more active and can do so much more without getting breathless!”
Eat the food you love… You really CAN eat what you want, so long as you stay within your SmartPoints budget. Before joining Weight Watchers I would eat anything and everything around me. I also used to drink excessively, but now I don’t drink at all unless it’s a special occasion. For me, what works best is to spend six days tracking, then have one day a week for treats – usually a Wednesday, straight after my meeting! Time is your friend – stick to the plan and you’ll feel the benefits.
Celebrate non-scale victories If you don’t see results on the scales, it’s okay. You should never feel let down, because a non-scale victory is as rewarding as a scale victory. Many of my non-scale victories have revolved around exercise. I never exercised before joining Weight Watchers and used to be a couch potato, but now I love going to the gym and tracking my exercise goals. I can’t think of anything better to do than work on my physique!
My yes moment It came when I was in the hairdressers, and realised I could enjoy looking at my reflection! Before Weight Watchers, I lacked confidence. Now I feel happy and proactive and look forward to the rest of my life.
