I’ve always loved Christmas, so when my husband Darren and I booked a trip to Lapland in December 2015, I couldn’t wait. We even booked a husky sleigh ride over a frozen lake, in the hope of seeing the northern lights. But the all-in-one snowsuits we were given to wear didn’t quite fit my size-22 frame… In fact, struggling to get me zipped up, our guide had to shout to a colleague to find me the biggest size they had. It was mortifying.

Back home, seeing our holiday photos only reinforced how unhappy I was. I knew the only way I would feel better about myself was by doing something about my weight and, having been a WW member before, I knew the plan worked. So I signed up in the New Year and lost 6lb in my first week! That spurred me on to continue.

Making smarter food choices, like swapping ready-made sauces for home cooking, helped me stay on track, and I started going to gym classes and for runs to support my new healthy lifestyle too. The combination of moving more and eating more nutritious meals had a really positive effect.

Nearly a year after joining, I got to goal. Darren treated me to a few new outfits to celebrate, and I was delighted to be able to wear gorgeous dresses to parties again. We returned to Lapland last December and recreated our sleigh ride. But that time I was able to easily zip up a size small! That was the best Christmas present ever.
