My story

After a difficult few years, I found myself turning to food for comfort more and more often. I knew I was putting on weight and not taking care of my health, but it wasn’t until 2011 when I struggled to find a Christmas party dress that I realised how out of control my unhealthy habits had become. I decided there and then to join WW.

Best festive advice

Life can get hectic during the festive period, but make sure you keep attending your WW Workshops. It’s just one hour out of your week, but it can go a long way in helping you stay on track and remain motivated. Think of it as well-deserved ‘me time’.

Best yuletide treat

It’s just not Christmas without mulled cider and chutney! I make my own now so I know exactly what’s in them and can easily track the SmartPoints®. I just love all the warming spices – they definitely put me in a festive mood.

Best motivation strategy

Trying new festive recipes helps motivate me to stick with the programme over Christmas. I’m not a fantastic cook, but I try. My Labrador, Buster, also makes sure I get plenty of exercise!

My Christmas-Day rule

Enjoy it! The day should be about spending quality time with loved ones, so don’t make food the entire focus. Try your best, but if you do veer off track, just draw a line under it and start fresh the next day.

My New Year resolutions

I’ve taken up cycling and love it, so my biggest goal for next year is to get fitter and improve my technique so I can tackle some big hills.
