Getting into fitness
If you’d told me last year that I’d be planning to run the London Marathon and tackle a muddy obstacle course, I would have laughed. I was the kind of person who would hail a taxi rather than walk a few minutes! But since joining WW I’ve got a new mindset as well as a new body. Getting into fitness has played a huge part in that – I’ve joined a Saturday running club and learned tips to help me stay active, like getting off the train a stop early and walking home.
Growing up I was a chubby child who would do anything to get out of PE. I slimmed down in my early teens, but after I started working as a regional manager for a clothes chain, I spent most of my time in my car and would snack on the go or grab a takeaway. I put on weight and at my heaviest was 22st. Then one day, I collapsed with chest pains. My doctor said I had an infection in my heart, which was under extra pressure because I was overweight.
After my health scare, I joined WW – and the gym. Thanks to the support of my mum, Sonia, who helped me plan meals, I stayed on track. I went to the gym every night and followed the Couch to 5K app, and was amazed to find I was losing weight steadily every month. My husband Justin and the rest of my family are stunned by my transformation and I've never felt healthier!
After a health scare and losing more than 7st, I’m running for my life: a healthier, happier one!
Getting fit has transformed the way I live: you won’t catch me going back to my old, unhealthy habits.
If you’d told me last year that I’d be planning to run the London Marathon, I would have laughed. But now that dream could be a reality.
