Colette's WW story

Hi everyone, I'm Colette (aka @backtogold_wwuk on Instagram) and I’ve been a WW member for nearly 7 years now.

I joined WW back when my daughter Isabelle was just 6 weeks old, and I managed to lose 5 stone when getting to goal. I maintained the weight loss for a while, but then I became pregnant with my second child, Harrison, who is now just about to turn three.

Annoyingly, after this, I regained all of my old weight back (and then some!), but I'm now only 10lbs away, and I'm still four and a half stone lighter than my starting weight.

Camping in style!

WW is a large part of my life nowadays, and although I’m not always perfect, I like to make sure I’m tracking as much as possible - even if it’s for a couple of days on holiday.

So when the grandparents offered to take the kids to Butlins for a weekend, my husband and I found the perfect excuse to book a weekend away for ourselves. And I only had one requirement for the holiday - a hot tub!

Gregg found the perfect place a few miles from Filey, and it was a beautiful shepherd's hut on a farm with, of course, a hot tub! It was in such a peaceful location with views for miles, and our only visitors for the whole time we stayed would be chickens... it was official, we were going glamping!

I can see the sea!

Living in Derbyshire means we are a long way from the sea. I couldn't wait for some sea air, long walks and no commitments! For three days I could turn my wandering mind off and chill at my own pace. It was wonderful.

Waking up to bright sunshine, listening to the birds, and drinking coffee in front of the most beautiful views was absolute bliss! Plus, staying on a farm meant breakfast was fresh eggs, which was perfect for staying on track.

The food itinerary

We decided to take most of our food with us - that way I could stay on track as much as possible but also enjoy a delicious hotdog just like my husband. We managed to save some money in the process too, and make the most of a summer BBQ as we watched the sun go down.

Here are some camping food ideas that helped me stay on track throughout the weekend:

Shopping list - camping style!

  • Heck Sausages
  • 5% burgers
  • Warburtons Thins
  • Red onions
  • Plum tomatoes
  • Rocket
  • Beetroot
  • Tomato sauce
  • Mustard
  • Salt and pepper
  • Corn on the cob
  • Stilton
  • Eggs
  • Low fat pink houmous (I made mine at home beforehand!)

  • Low fat coleslaw (I made this at home too)

  • Marshmallows (sugar-free)
  • Kebab sticks
  • Diet lemonade
  • Gin
  • Foil

RECIPE IDEAS: Beetroot houmous

The barbecues didn’t stop me from having my favourite meal of fish & chips though! They always taste better at the seaside, and I couldn’t go to Whitby and not sample some! So I did, and I enjoyed every mouthful. That’s why I love WW so much - because nothing is off limits.

FitPoints®, meet the outdoors.

With my weeklies and all the FitPoints I was earning from walking around outdoors, I didn’t need to feel guilty about enjoying some tasty fish & chips - I was still within my weekly allowance!

One day we walked almost 30,000 steps, and I was definitely ready for the hot tub and a gin by the end of it all.

I'm certainly no camper - but a glamper, now that’s a different matter - and to be able to stay on track with WW, whilst still having the freedom to eat whatever you want never fails to amaze me!
