Embrace happiness and change how you think
The way you think drives the things you do—it’s a fact. That’s why WW taps into the science of behaviour change, providing proven strategies that guide you toward a helpful mindset.

Thoughts and thinking styles
We all have thousands of thoughts a day – words, sentences and even images that pop into our heads. A lot of them are automatic, so that you think them without even realising you’re doing it, and they can become like a default setting for how we view the world. When your thoughts are accurate and realistic, that can be really helpful. But when they’re inaccurate and unrealistic, it’s a different story.
The thing to know is that how you think determines how you feel, which determines what you do. So while some thinking styles can nudge you in a healthier direction, others can do the exact opposite, and over time that’s something that can undermine your health and wellbeing.
On the other hand, swapping your unhelpful thoughts for helpful ones can be seriously good for you. Not only will your mood benefit, it can make it easier to see things as they really are. And then all kinds of good things can happen! Like, you might start pinpointing when you’re eating in response to things other than genuine hunger. And as a result, you might choose to respond in a different way, instead of heading to the fridge. Because if you think differently, you’ll act differently.
Embrace happiness
When was the last time you felt really happy? Earlier today? Sometime last week? Can’t remember? If it’s been a while, it’s time for that to change. Because, while you can’t be happy all the time (that’s not realistic, or necessary) happiness can be a real ally when you’re trying to get healthy.
For starters, happier people make healthier choices about everything from food and physical activity, to getting enough sleep. They also tend to have more energy, stronger self-control and are less likely to turn to food when emotions, like stress or sadness, crop up.
The best thing is that while a percentage of how happy you are is determined by factors that are out of your control, like your genetic make up and the reality of your day-to-day life circumstances, the things you do or don’t do play a huge role too. In fact, research shows that 40 per cent of your happiness is determined by your own actions. And, not only can you choose to do things that make you happy, making some relatively small changes to how you think, behave and act can have a big impact.
