WW x cafes: SmartPoints® guide to the Pret menu, Costa menu & Starbucks coffee

At WW we’re all about freedom and flexibility, which means you can lose weight while eating the foods you love.

By creating a series of articles dedicated to eating out and staying on track, we’re on a mission to prove that WW Freestyle™ is our most liveable programme yet.

First, we gave you a SmartPoints®-friendly Nando’s menu and showed you how to enjoy a three course meal at the legendary home of Peri-Peri chicken for just 9 SmartPoints.

Then, we gave Wagamama the SmartPoints treatment - hello steamed chicken gyoza and a warming bowl of chicken ramen.

Next up was fast food, where we showcased the SmartPoints values of top tracked items from McDonald’s, Subway and Greggs.

Now, we’re shining the spotlight on your favourite cafes. Whether you enjoy stopping at Starbucks for coffee, popping into Pret at lunchtime or calling at Costa for a sweet treat, here’s your SmartPoints (SP) guide to popular high street cafes.

Pret a Manger


Start your day right with a steaming hot pot of Proper Porridge, made from British jumbo oats and fresh milk, for 9 SmartPoints. Prefer a breakfast sarnie? The egg & bacon and smoked salmon & egg baguettes are 7SP each. Or, choose the Five Berry Pot, a berry compote topped with yoghurt, for 7SP.

How many SmartPoints are in your favourite caffeine fix? A White Americano is 1SP, a Flat White is 3SP, a Cappuccino or a Soya Latte is 4SP and a Regular Latte is 5SP.

Salads and veggie boxes
Looking for lunch on the go, or got a catch up planned with a colleague? Pret’s Protein Box is a festival of chicken, eggs, avocado, broccoli and baby spinach - that’s protein, greens and healthy fats. And it’s just 5SP!

Coming in at 10SP is the Tuna Nicoise Salad and the Roast Beets, Squash & Feta Veggie Box. The Sweet Potato Falafel & Smashed Beets Veggie Box is 11SP, and is served on a bed of brown and black rice.

If you’ve got some extra SmartPoints to spare (you might have planned a low SP breakfast and dinner, or maybe you’ve got rollovers to use) the Chef’s Italian Chicken Salad is 17SP, with Caesar-dressed chicken, olives and toasted pistachios. You can also tap into your weeklies if you need to.

Sometimes you’re just in the mood for a hearty sandwich. The Free Range Egg Mayo Sandwich is a relatively low SmartPoints option at 8SP and the Scottish Smoked Salmon Sandwich is 12SP. If you’d prefer a warm toastie, the Tuna Melt is 15SP and the Ham, Cheese & Mustard is 17SP.

Soup is a great low SmartPoints option, and there are plenty to choose from at Pret. For 2SP you could have the Chicken, Broccoli & Brown Rice Soup or the ‘No Cream’ Cream of Chicken Soup. Alternatively, the Veggie Chilli Soup is 4SP and the Souper Tomato Soup is 5SP.

If you’re just swinging by for a snack, the Egg & Spinach Protein Pot is 0SP, the Crisped Kale is 2SP and the Rock Salt Popcorn is 4SP. See the full list of our 200+ ZeroPoint™ foods here. In the mood for something sweet? Pret a Mango (a small bag of dried mango) is 5SP, a Banana Cake Slice is 10SP and Pret’s Love Bar (caramel, chocolate chips, nuts and seeds on a flapjack base) is 15SP.




Whether you’re grabbing something in a rush before work or enjoying a leisurely late breakfast, there are options to suit all tastes and Budgets. The Scrambled Egg & Mushroom Muffin is 7SP, the Instant Oat Porridge Pot is 10SP and a Bacon Roll is 12SP. A Fruit Teacake is also 12SP (without butter).

For 3SP, you can get a Cappuccino (Medio) with skimmed milk or a Flat White (Primo) with skimmed milk. A Caffe Latte (Medio) with skimmed milk is 4SP, and same goes for a Caffe Latte (Medio) with soya milk. Fancy a treat? A Hot Chocolate (Medio) with skimmed milk is 10SP.

Having a topping with your drink? The Sugar Free Caramel Syrup (10g) is 0SP, and the Vanilla and Caramel Syrups are 2SP each for 10g.

Sandwiches, toasties, salads and soups
If you’re looking for a low SmartPoints option, the Tomato & Basil Soup is 4SP. Happy stepping into double digit territory? The British Ham & Cheese Toastie is 10SP, the Roast Chicken Salad Sandwich is 12SP, the Tuna Melt Panini is 13SP and the Emmental & Mushroom Toastie is 14SP. The Mozzarella and Sun-Dried Tomato Pasta Salad is 16SP.

Good to know: While the toastie version is 10SP, it’s worth knowing that the British Ham & Cheese Panini is 13SP.

Sweet treats
Got a hankering for something sweet? The Portuguese Custard Tart (Pastel de Nata) is 7SP and the Fruit & Oats Biscuits are 9SP. You can make custard tarts at home too, using this recipe from our Eggs cookbook!

If you have rollovers or weeklies to tap into, or you’ve planned low SmartPoints meals over your day, the Blueberry Muffin is 16SP and the Millionaire Shortbread is 18SP.




Top tracked breakfast options on the WW app include the Super Scrambled Eggs, Tomato & Spinach Hot Box for 4SP, the Berry Crunch Pot (Greek-style yoghurt with granola and mixed berry compote) for 8SP and the Classic Oatmeal or Five Grain Oatmeal for 10SP each. Need a carb fix? The All Day Breakfast Roll is 12SP and the Sausage Sandwich is 15SP.

Who else only needs coffee on days ending with ‘y’? Here’s a quick SmartPoints guide to the most important thing on the menu at Starbucks:

Treating yourself to a topping? Flavoured sugar free syrup is 0SP for one to four pumps. Flavoured syrup is 1SP for one pump, 3SP for two pumps, 4SP for three pumps and 5SP for four pumps.

Paninis, toasties and salads
If you’re stopping by for lunch, the Vegan Roasted Vegetable Salad is a fairly low SmartPoints option, clocking in at 9SP. For 11SP you can get the Mini Grilled Cheese & Ham Toastie or the Tuna Melt Panini. The Mozzarella, Tomato & Red Pesto Panini is 13SP. Feeling super cheesy? The Five Cheese Toastie and the Vegan Mac Hot Box (a vegan mac ‘n’ cheese) are 16SP each.

If your willpower starts to wane when you catch sight of the tasty looking treats in the cake display, you’re not alone! A Butter Croissant is 10SP, a Pain au Chocolat is 11SP and a Skinny Blueberry Muffin is 12SP. Alternatively, the Chocolate Brownie is 16SP and the Luxury Fruit Toast is 18SP.
