Pai: “To say WW has changed my life doesn’t really cut it”
When did you start your WW journey?
I started WW about two and a half years ago. The app makes the programme really easy to follow. I love the app - it’s amazing. The recipe builder is the game-changer - you can put in whatever you want to eat and it will generate the SmartPoints for you! It takes all the guesswork out of it.
How has WW helped you over lockdown?
For me, 2020 has actually been brilliant! I’ve lost 3st and gained so much confidence, and it’s thanks to the WW programme and app. The workouts in the app are amazing, and there are also live virtual events you can join like cookalongs. There are so many extra features to help you stay on plan.
What physical changes have you noticed since joining WW?
My body shape is the main thing - I was a lot bigger, and my clothes were bigger. My mind still needs to catch up when I go shopping, because I still tend to go for the bigger size! I was a size 22-24 and now I'm 16-18 and sometimes even a 14. So my body shape has totally changed - and in that, with that change, my confidence has changed.
Would you say WW is more than a weight loss programme?
Yes. It encompasses everything. It encompasses your way of life, the way you eat, and the way that you move. Between all of them, you become a much better, more rounded person.
I’ve learnt so much about mindset, and I’m more confident in myself. I was so self-conscious before. Now, I’m more comfortable in my own skin, so to speak, even though I’ve still got more weight to lose. I'm comfortable with who I am and where I'm going. I'm that focused that I will get there, but there's no rush. I'm going to enjoy eating healthily and get there in my own time.
I’ve also learnt about fitness, and how to put strategies in place to make sure I’m moving more. I’ve started running - I never thought I would run in my life! I made a goal with my Coach that we’d run a 5K Race For Life, which we did. Then, the London Marathon came along and I was like, this might be the only time I get to do it, so I’m going for it. And I did! To say WW has changed my life doesn’t really cut it.
What can you eat on the WW programme?
You can eat anything - absolutely anything! If I want a Chinese I can have it - I just make sure I track it and stay within my SmartPoints Budget for the week so I still lose weight. You can still live a ‘normal’ life. It's not a diet; it's a lifestyle change and that's what I love about it.
Tell us about your WW support network.
I love my Coach - she's become a lifelong friend. She’s just amazing. I've made friends with other WW members in my Workshop too, who I think will also be lifelong friends. They're so encouraging; they’ve motivated me to do things that I never thought I would do.
Would you say WW has changed you as a person?
Yes. I never thought I would be this confident person who runs! I’m 3st down and just loving it. It’s the best feeling ever. You've only got one life to be the best person that you can be, and WW helped me become the person I am today. When I started this journey, I would never have thought I would be here. I would have thought, "Nah, that's not me you're talking about. That's somebody else." But it is!
