How to switch plans on myWW+

Curious about life on one of the other food plans, or wondering if you’re on the one that’s right for you? Read on.

We get it: sometimes you want to try something new. On myWW+, you can switch for any reason. Want to see what the other plans are all about? Take a look!

What’s the difference between the three plans?

Each food plan has a balance of SmartPoints® and ZeroPoint™ foods:

  • Green has a sizeable SmartPoints Budget and 100+ ZeroPoint foods (fruits and veggies).
  • Blue has a moderate SmartPoints Budget and 200+ ZeroPoint foods (fruits, veggies, and lean proteins).

  • Purple has a modest SmartPoints Budget and 300+ ZeroPoint foods (fruits, veggies, lean proteins, and whole grains).

Can I switch plans if I want to?

Absolutely! But we recommend giving it 2 weeks before you make a change. Why? It can take a while to get used to a whole new way of eating. Our research shows that 2 weeks is a good amount of time to adjust. If you decide that switching is what’s best for you, you can do it in Settings.

How do I switch plans in the WW app?

Go to the home screen and tap on the profile icon in the top right corner. Then tap the settings icon (top right corner) and select "Food settings" and then "Food plan".

How do I decide which plan is best for me? 

Start by thinking about the way you want to be eating and your weight loss goals. Which plan will be the best fit?

  • Would you rather have more SmartPoints to spend, and would be happy limiting your ZeroPoint foods to fruits and vegetables (not including corn, peas, beans, or other starchy veggies)? Switching to Green might be for you.
  • Do you really like the ZeroPoint foods list and want more of them (and are happy to have fewer SmartPoints)? Purple might be a great option for you because of the addition of ZeroPoint foods like oats, wholewheat pasta, potatoes, and fat-free cottage cheese.
  • Or are you somewhere in the middle, where you're happy with a moderate SmartPoints Budget and ZeroPoint foods list? Blue could be best for you.

Is one plan “better” than another? 

Nope. Each one is based on our proven SmartPoints system, and all are designed to give you similar weight loss. The one that’s best is the one that gives you the most flexibility, because that's the one that will be the most liveable for you.

Which plan will help me lose the most weight? 

Our research found that members on all three plans achieved equal and consistent weight loss, so in that way all plans are equal.

Can I try all three plans? 

Feel free to give each plan a try! Just keep in mind that it can take some time to get used to a whole new way of eating and to know whether it fits your lifestyle and is helping you reach your goals. Our research shows that 2 weeks is a good amount of time to understand this. Switching too often can also be confusing, with changing SmartPoints Budgets and ZeroPoint food lists, so once you find a plan that works for you, we recommend staying there.

If I switch plans, what happens to my previous tracker entries?

If you switch plans, anything you track starting that day will show the SmartPoints for your new plan. Anything before the day you switch will will display the SmartPoints for your prior plan. If you see a difference in SmartPoints values for certain foods, that's why.

My partner or friend is on a different plan. Are we going to have to eat differently?

Nope! All three food plans are built based on the scientifically proven SmartPoints system which promotes a healthy pattern of eating. SmartPoints will guide you and your partner towards similar foods - more fruits, vegetables, and lean protein, and foods lower in sugar and saturated fat.

Additionally, the behavioural strategies that you’ll use to help you reach your goals are the same across Blue, Green, and Purple - skills like meal planning, portioning, listening to hunger cues, goal setting and more. But if you want to be on the same plan, you're welcome to switch to the one that best fits both of your lifestyles.
