New itinerary combines holistic wellness, delicious healthy food and the best of the Mediterranean on board the leading cruise line’s newest cruise ship

London, 26th November 2018 — Anyone looking for a sophisticated cruise holiday with a healthy serving of wellness is in for a treat. Following on from the success of four U.S. Caribbean cruises on board the elegant MSC Divina and the revolutionary MSC Seaside, WW (the new Weight Watchers) has strengthened its partnership with MSC Cruises — the world’s largest privately-owned cruise line and market leader in Europe, South America, South Africa and the Gulf — to launch its first ever cruise in Europe. Embarking from Barcelona and sailing the Mediterranean in July 2019, guests will have the unique opportunity to experience one of MSC Cruises‘ newest ships, MSC Seaview, while enjoying the WW wellness program on board.

Along with a robust itinerary, visiting some the region’s hottest port destinations in Spain, Italy and France, the cruise will feature WW‘s trademark combination of freshly prepared, healthy meals and snacks, holistic wellness workshops and fabulous onboard entertainment – reinforcing that WW’s liveable programme means life doesn’t have to stop if you want to get healthy. The WW Cruise also offers members the opportunity to meet like-minded people from around the world, allowing them to share their experiences and support each other in their journey.

The iconic MSC Seaview, debuted in June 2018 and sailing seasonally in the Mediterranean and Brazil, has been beautifully designed for warm weather climates. Like her sister ship, MSC Seaside, MSC Seaview’s revolutionary ‘beach condo‘ architecture and wealth of outdoor space bring guests closer to the sea and help them enjoy the outdoors like never before. On board, guests will enjoy an experience inspired by MSC Cruises‘ European heritage, including sophisticated, detailed design, internationally-inspired dining, broadway-style entertainment each evening, and a variety of wellness-focused features for cruisers to discover.

The WW cruise is an extension of MSC Cruises‘ already strong wellness programme, including a longstanding partnership with Technogym to outfit all on board gyms as well as a dedicated wellness package, offering guests the opportunity to begin their wellness journey even before they arrive. MSC Cruises‘ Wellness Package includes an assessment and goal-setting with a personal trainer to develop a plan for success during the vacation. Guests on board can also participate in a variety of fitness classes including yoga, spinning, or personal training sessions — a great way to rack up additional FitPoints® while cruising! For some much-needed rejuvenation, cruisers are encouraged to visit the MSC Aurea Spa, offering a Balinese-style spa experience with a variety of treatments and one of the most dynamic thermal areas at sea, including multiple steam rooms and saunas, a Hammam room, aromatic showers, a salt relax room and even a snow room.

The WW Mediterranean Cruise will set sail from 20th to 27th July, 2019, lasting eight days and seven nights. The following cabin categories are available: inside cabins; outside cabins; balcony cabins; and suites.  The cruise departs and returns to Barcelona, with stop offs at the following locations:

Day 1 – Barcelona, Spain – Saturday 20th July

Day 2 – Ajaccio, France – Sunday 21st July
Day 3 – Genoa, Italy – Monday 22nd July
Day 4 – La Spezia, Italy – Tuesday 23rd July
Day 5 – Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy – Wednesday 24th July
Day 6 – Cannes, France – Thursday 25th July
Day 7 – Palma de Mallorca – Friday 26th July
Day 8 – Barcelona – Saturday 27th July

Throughout the eight day/seven night cruise, guests will enjoy a mouthwatering menu of SmartPoints®-friendly meals and snacks all cooked by expert chefs. There will even be a series of onboard cooking classes and demos to help them recreate their favourite recipes at home. Check out the full menu here.

In addition, guests will find a ton of ways to rack up those FitPoints® during their time at sea with a great range of group fitness classes, motivating workshops, nutrition coaching and one-on-one sessions with WW’s health and wellness experts, exclusive to guests of the WW Cruise. When it’s time to relax, restore and simply enjoy being on holiday, guests will also find an array of activities available. Everything from mindset relaxation and yoga in the sunshine on deck and taking a dip in one of the ship‘s superb pools, to watching a different broadway-style show each night of the cruise, sipping and socializing in one of the ship’s 19 bars, and dancing the night away at a variety of themed parties throughout the week. Cruisers can even enjoy spectacular views from the ship‘s glass-enclosed atrium, stroll across the glass-floored Bridge of Sighs with unobstructed views of the surrounding ocean, or sit and take in the sea from a seat on the widest waterfront boardwalk in cruising.

And, of course, back on terra firma a Mediterranean paradise is waiting to be explored during a fantastic programme of shore excursions. Stop-off locations include the rugged countryside and beautiful vineyards of Corsica, the glamour of Cannes, the historic sites of Rome‘s Eternal City and much, much more. The full cruise itinerary can be found here.

Offering the best in healthy food, wellness-centred activities and skills to develop a positive mind-set, the WW Cruise shows how being healthy can be integrated into your life, making wellness accessible to all.”

Antonio Paradiso, Managing Director of MSC Cruises for the UK & Ireland, says:

“Wellness has always been a core pillar of MSC Cruises’ offering to our guests, and we have continued to grow these features by partnering with world-class brands such as WW. Bringing this first cruise to Europe just two years after launching the partnership with WW is a testament to the success of the programme as well as the strong desire for travellers to maintain their wellness goals while on holiday. Cruising overall places everything right at the guest’s fingertips and helps them simplify making good choices while traveling. Guests can choose from a variety of healthy options in the buffet as well as in the dining room, and they are just steps away from the gym to stay on track with their fitness goals. And, while exploring in port, guests can select more active options to make the most out of their visit.”
