 I now believe in the plan so much that I’ve even become a Leader so that I can help others reach their weight loss goals.

With a mom as a past Leader, Renee knew Weight Watchers worked. When her doctor told her she may have to go on high blood pressure meds, that’s when she joined herself and followed in mom's footsteps.


When at just 27-years-old my doctor told me that I might need to be put on blood pressure medication, I knew I had to make a change. I Weighed 147 pounds at 4’10", which really scared me. I had never seen the number on the scale so high. My clothes stopped fitting and on top of that, I started to notice that I wasn’t feeling well. My feet would swell and I was getting headaches.

Taking initiative

My mother was a Lifetime Member and a past Leader, so I was familiar with the Program, but whenever she suggested I give it a try I felt insulted because I thought she was saying that I couldn't do it on my own. I saw the television ads featuring Jennifer Hudson and thought how great she looked. I finally decided to join Weight Watchers meetings and give the Program a try after realizing I had exhausted all other options.

Feeling better

I saw a change on the scale during my first week on the Program, and the consistent weight loss week-after-week definitely kept me motivated to stick with it. After losing 14 pounds*, which was 10 percent of my starting weight, I noticed a clear difference in the way my body felt. I was absolutely amazed by how changes to my diet and lifestyle could impact my health. Most importantly, I went to the doctor and found out my blood pressure had stabilized so there was no need for medication.

The Program helped me reach my goal weight which has allowed me to be way more confident. I see a clear difference in the ways my clothes fit and love the fact that I’ve gone from a size 10 to a size zero. Before I lost the weight I was critical of the way I appeared in photos and would tend to shy away from the camera. I was almost afraid of finding out what the picture looked like after it was taken. Now I'm always posing for the camera.

Maintaining the changes

Seeing the consistent weight loss each week kept me motivated, but there were some weeks where the number on the scale didn’t match the results I expected to see. In times like this it helped me to focus on the victories in my life that didn’t relate to the scale. Many people have congratulated me on my weight loss accomplishment and told me that I have inspired them. When they mention how hard I’ve worked to get where I am, I tell them that I can’t take all the credit because Weight Watchers PointsPlus® is a plan that anyone can follow, not just me. I truly believe in this plan and the lifestyle it promotes. I believe in the plan so much that I’ve even become a Leader so that I can help others reach their weight loss goals. I really encourage everyone who is struggling with his or her weight to join Weight Watchers, and for those already on the plan to stick with it, because it really works!

  • Dance and go salsa dancing in your free time. Fitness can be fun!
  • At times when the numbers on the scale don’t match the results you expect to see, try to focus on life victories that don’t relate to the scale.
