I’ve changed my self talk
“Self-compassion is something I’ve had to work hard at and in doing so, I’ve learned to talk to myself differently. In my first year at WW I lost 45kg and I lost it pretty consistently, week after week after week. Soon after that 12-month mark I had a tiny weight gain and I was so upset – my mindset really struggled with it. But my Coaches helped me see things differently. I said to myself ‘I’ve already lost 45kg, what’s one or two weeks if I don’t lose weight?’. I talk to myself differently about food now, too. In the past I found it hard to forgive myself if I ate something I hadn’t planned to. Now I have a saying: ‘one meal isn’t going to be the undoing of 56kg of weight loss! Forgive yourself, move on and get back to it’.”

“After starting to eat well, not feeling hungry and seeing some losses, I then realised ‘okay, I can do this’.”
My son had to tie my shoelaces
“One day I had to ask my son to do my shoelaces up because I couldn’t physically reach them. I hadn’t realised how overweight I was until then. That was my ‘moment’. My mum had joined WW so I decided I would, too. I was so scared to walk into my first Workshop and I was the biggest person there. But everyone was so lovely to me. The Coaches and the other members were so welcoming and I just thought ‘I’m going to try this’. After starting to eat well, not feeling hungry and seeing some losses, I then realised ‘okay, I can do this’.”
Making room for dessert
“I have a pretty consistent food routine these days. On Sundays, I cook two dishes for the week ahead. I also usually know what I’m having for dinner either the night before or in the morning so I can pre-track it, then I usually spend between 3 and 6 SmartPoints on breakfast. Based on what I’ve tracked for breakfast and dinner, I know how many SmartPoints I have for lunch. And I always allocate some SmartPoints for dessert. I never want to cut out the things I love because this needs to be something I can stick with long term.”

The WW app has helped me get active
“I used to hate doing anything physically active and I couldn’t even go for a walk without my knees hurting. But now I exercise every day and I love the activity features in the WW app.”
“After I lost about 20kg I bought a treadmill and started walking on that, but thanks to Aaptiv on the app I’ve progressed from walking to running on it. For someone who used to be very sedentary, it’s a huge shift.”
Now I sleep easy
“Before joining WW my snoring was out of control. I’m sure I had sleep apnoea. I’d fall asleep at the drop of a hat – it wasn’t good. Fortunately, just losing weight was enough to significantly improve my sleep. Becoming someone who doesn’t snore at all is one of my biggest non-scale victories.”
