The classic Italian combo of prosciutto and melon stars in these snack skewers, along with bocconcini (mozzarella cheese balls) and fresh basil for more heft and oomph. Some freshly ground or cracked black pepper is an excellent pairing with the sweet fruit, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze (you can sub balsamic vinegar if you prefer) brightens all the flavours.

Ingredients

Cantaloupe

16 ball(s)

Lean prosciutto

1 oz, cut crosswise into 8 pieces

Bocconcini

2¾ oz, 8 balls

Fresh basil

8 leaf/leaves

Black pepper

¼ tsp(s)

Store-bought balsamic glaze

1 tsp(s)

Instructions

  1. Onto each of 8 small skewers, thread 2 cantaloupe balls, 1 piece of prosciutto (fold it to make skewering easy), 1 bocconcino, and 1 basil leaf. Arrange the skewers on a platter and sprinkle with black pepper; drizzle with balsamic glaze.
