A SmartPoints guide to ordering at Chipotle

Your cheat sheet for menu items that fit into your plan.

One of the great things about Chipotle is how easily its dishes lend themselves to customization. You get to choose everything that goes into your bowl, burrito, salad or tacos, giving you lots of control over what’s on your plate.

With this guide – and the handy WW App – you can learn the SmartPoints values of common Chipotle menu items to make it even easier to choose meals that fit into your SmartPoints budget.

Chipotle’s mainstays – burritos, tacos, burrito bowls and salads – are all formed in much the same way: they start with a base, such as a flour tortilla for a burrito or brown rice for a bowl, and then you choose the rest of the toppings to bulk it out.

Chipotle has quite a few ZeroPoint foods or low SmartPoints options. A base of romaine lettuce for a salad, for example, topped with black or pinto beans, will keep you at between 0 and 1 SmartPoints on Blue or Purple, leaving lots of room in your SmartPoints budget for other toppings.

When it comes to toppings, there’s a range of things to choose from, and their SmartPoints values range, too. Lettuce and fajita veggies and some of Chipotle’s salsas, for example, have zero SmartPoints, while things like cheese, sour cream, and guacamole ring in at higher values.

The side items that Chipotle offers are higher in SmartPoints values – an order of plain chips on their own count for 17 SmartPoints, for example, while chips with guacamole are worth 25 points. One way to lower the SmartPoints value is to swap guacamole for a 0 SmartPoints item such as tomato salsa.
