Top tips for buying and storing asparagus

• Australian asparagus is available from September to March however they are more abradant during spring.
• When selecting asparagus look for firm, bright smooth spears. When you snap the end of freshly harvested asparagus, it should be crisp.
• Asparagus like cool, humid conditions. Wrap spears in a damp paper towel, place in a plastic bag and store in the fridge in a vegetable crisper. Or you can store them standing upright in a container with 1cm cold water, covered in the fridge.
• Asparagus has abundant nutrients including a range of B group vitamins, vitamin C and potassium.
