Meet the Momentum™ Walk-It Challenge Bloggers
These eight women are so serious about completing the Momentum Walk-It Challenge that they’re doing it very, very publicly — on their own blogs. Find out what motivates them to stick to a training program, and pick up some tips along the way.

To follow the Momentum™ Walk-It Challenge I started a walking group at my work (a school) and we walk around the school grounds, a little less than two miles, three times a week. I also participate in many online groups where we link our weekly progress post together to provide support and encouragement. A fellow Walk-It Blogger Jen [below] created a special blog, TheTweetWalker Clubhouse, as a place where a group of Walk-It Challenge participants could meet to share walking goals and progress. We give each other virtual high fives and kicks in the butt too!
Since becoming part of the challenge I have felt inspired to set goals and more importantly to keep adjusting or resetting them as I go. I began the challenge with hopes of finishing my 5K. I’m so excited to report that I accomplished this goal a few weeks ago, but then I started wondering what I was going to do next. I set a new goal to run a 5K in less than 40 minutes, and I just met this goal with the 5K I ran this past Sunday.

I’m a work-at-home mom of two kids, married to the love of my life, and they all keep me laughing/crazy. I love being a mom 99% of the time, and the rest of the time I fake it.
I’m doing the Momentum Walk-It Challenge, and motivating people to exercise, as a part of a fitness challenge on my blog. Even if I don't feel like working out, I know I still have to do it because once a week I'm reporting back how I'm doing to my readers. I know that people are getting up and getting their bums in gear because I’m blogging about the challenge, and that makes me really happy to hear.
If I can lose 15 lbs of cupcake weight put on over a long and dark winter, anyone can do it. I barely have time to breathe, but I'm scheduling workouts into my daily life and using the buddy system to keep me going.

I'm a 38-year-old mother of two, and wife. My son is 3 1/2 and my daughter is almost 17 months. During my "free time" (a.k.a. naptime/nighttime) I blog about following Weight Watchers, and test and write product reviews for babies and kids.
Since starting the challenge, my activity level has gone up around 60%. As well as two long walks a week (around 2.5 miles), I find myself walking any chance I get — like last week at the mechanic, instead of waiting around for my car to be fixed, I took a walk around the neighborhood.
Losing weight has a huge struggle for me for most of my life. I've really never been happy with my body and I don't want to pass that onto my daughter. By getting in better shape, I'll set a better example for both my children.

Someone once said I was the Erma Bombeck of dieting, and now I tell that to anyone who will listen! My sister and I blog because we felt diet blogging needed to lighten up.
I’m doing the Momentum Walk-It Challenge with my friends. It's helped remind me that I have to exercise consistently every day. My normal mode is to go gung ho for a few days and quit. Walk-It has helped me increase my exercise each day. I don't have to run a marathon I just have to walk the dog!
Here's the thing: we all have loses and gains. This isn't an elevator to the skinny floor, there are ups and downs. When the scale doesn't show what I'd like I'm all for a spray tan, a hoodie tied around the waist, and a belly laugh with my dieting friends.

I'm a wife and mother of a teen, tween and toddler. As a former newspaper journalist and a current professional writer, I'm always writing for other people. My blog allows me to write what I want to write.
I'm a lifetime Weight Watchers member and an avid jogger/runner. My husband is joining Weight Watchers with my encouragement, and we are doing the Momentum Walk-It Challenge, training to do a 5K together. Our 10-year-old son may join us, as well, just for fun. The challenge has me recommitted to my Weight Watchers program. I've begun attending meetings much more regularly again, and I'm journaling my exercise efforts, as well.
I want to encourage other people to add exercise to their daily routine. I believe that the key to weight loss success is to make exercise your "drug of choice."

Last year when I joined Weight Watchers, I told myself it was for the last time. I have completely changed my lifestyle — my activity level, attitude, and outlook are all much healthier than they have ever been before. Thanks to the Momentum Walk-It Challenge, I've developed the "habit" of walking six days a week, and I am loving it.
Blogging allows me to express myself creatively. I have gotten tremendous support from the people who read my blog, and have learned so many great ideas from other people's blogs. It's this entire online community of people whom I consider friends, even though we've never met.
I absolutely love the Momentum Walk-It Challenge. I had joined a training group with the hopes of completing a half marathon, but I was overtraining and I got injured. I was devastated that I had to drop out of the training, and very discouraged about my weight loss efforts. Then I went to the Weight Watchers meeting that week and heard about the Walk-It Challenge and felt energized and excited about exercise in a way I hadn't been in months! I started that first day with my 15 minute walk, felt no pain, and knew I would be successful.

I am 31 years old. I married the greatest guy and my best friend two years ago and we have the coolest daughter who is almost 10. I am an English teacher, and also a grad student (part time).
I started my blog shortly after I joined Weight Watchers. I am still shocked that people read my blog. I am just a nerdy bookworm trying to lose a lot of weight and people are following my blog. Amazing!
When I first read about the Walk-It Challenge I was so excited! I have been using Twitter and blogging to stay motivated and accountable, and came up with the virtual walking club, The TweetWalker ClubHouse.
I am also motivating my students — last week I talked about signing up for my first 5K and I had a few students want more information and wanted to walk with me. Today we had our first training session and three students stayed after school and walked two miles with me.

I came to the realization that the reason I am overweight has nothing to do with food, and had everything to do with how I felt about myself. Bottom line is that I did not think I was good enough.
I decided on January 1 2009 that I had to gain control of this before it took over my entire life. That's when I decided to join Weight Watchers again and do whatever it takes to regain my life. I am happy to say that I now know that I am worth it! I started to blog and podcast about my journey, because I needed a tool to keep me honest in achieving my ultimate goal of losing 100 pounds. Having this much weight to lose can be very isolating at times.
Before the Momentum Walk-It Challenge I never moved around. I work online and I sit all day at my computer desk; since the challenge I've been able to go to the gym three times a week and am at a level on the treadmill that I have not seen in years. With each step I get stronger and stronger and my goal seems in reach.
