Sometimes all we need is a little bite to tide us over – something that tastes great and doesn’t derail our healthy eating plan. That’s why we created these sweet and savory recipes. They’re simple to make and easy to love.

So simple and delicious, you might wonder why you hadn’t thought of these combinations yourself. And that’s the point — when we’re hungry and grabbing a nibble, good choices don’t always come to mind first. But if we’re armed with a stash of yummy recipes, they can come easily. It only takes a minute or two to put together any of these healthy, tasty 1-3 PointsPlus value snacks.

We’ve divided the recipes into two groups — those that hit the spot when you want something savory, and the rest for when a sweet treat is just the thing.

Each recipe serves one.

Apple with Melted Cheddar

Makes 1 serving

Ingredients

  • 1/2 small apple, cut into slices
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp low-fat cheddar cheese, shredded or cut into small pieces

Instructions

  1. Place apple slices on a microwaveable plate and sprinkle with cheese. Microwave until cheese melts, about 30 to 60 seconds.

Celery Stuffed with Blue Cheese

Makes 1 serving

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp blue cheese
  • 1 tsp smoky barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 tsp reduced-calorie mayonnaise
  • 2 medium celery ribs, washed and trimmed

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine blue cheese, barbecue sauce and mayonnaise; blend well. Spoon cheese dip into celery sticks.

Chipotle-Lime Popcorn

Makes 1 serving

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp fresh lime juice
  • ½ tsp chipotle chili powder
  • 3 cups air-popped or light microwave popcorn

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine lime juice and chili powder; mix well. Add popcorn and toss to coat, turning several times with a spatula while scrapping bottom of bowl.

Chopped Olive and Tomato Dip

Makes 1 serving

Ingredients

  • 1 cup tomatoes, roughly chopped
  • 6 large olives, pitted and chopped
  • 2 Tbsp Vidalia onion, finely chopped
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a small bowl. Scoop up with celery sticks or other fresh, cut-up vegetables.

Fresh Buttermilk Dip

Makes 1 serving

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp reduced-calorie mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 Tbsp fresh chives, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh dill, minced
  • freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine buttermilk, mayonnaise, lemon juice, mustard, chives and dill; season to taste with pepper. Scoop up with broccoli florets, grape tomatoes or other fresh vegetables.

Parmesan and Herb Popcorn

Makes 1 serving

  • 2 tsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 ½ cups air-popped or light microwave popcorn

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine lemon juice, Italian seasoning and Parmesan cheese; mix well. Add popcorn and toss to coat, turning several times with a spatula while scrapping bottom of bowl.

Chocolate-Covered Marshmallow

Makes 1 serving

Ingredients

  • 1 medium marshmallow
  • 1 1/4 tsp mini chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Place a medium marshmallow in a small microwavable bowl and sprinkle with chocolate. Microwave on low power until chocolate just begins to melt. Eat with a spoon.

Frozen Berries and Cream

Makes 1 serving

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup frozen, unsweetened strawberries
  • 1/3 cup whipped light cream (from an aerosol can)

Instructions

  1. Combine berries and cream in a blender; puree until smooth. Spoon into a small bowl and freeze.

Frozen Grape Smash

Makes 1 serving

Ingredients

  • 1 cup seedless grapes

Instructions

  1. Place grapes in a small bowl and smash them until they burst; freeze.
Note: Use very sweet grapes. Consider combining green, red and purple grapes for a delicious taste and beautiful presentation.

Honey-Sesame Apple Slices


Makes 1 serving

Ingredients

  • 1/2 small apple, thinly sliced
  • 1 1/2 tsp honey
  • 1/2 tsp sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Place apple slices on a microwaveable plate; drizzle with honey and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Microwave until warmed, about 30 to 60 seconds.

Mixed Berry Fizz

Makes 1 serving

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup fresh or frozen (unsweetened) mixed berries
  • 3/4 Tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup ice
  • 1/2 cup seltzer, plus more to thin to desired consistency

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a blender; puree until smooth. Thin with more seltzer, if desired.

Salted-Caramel Apple Slices


Makes 1 serving

Ingredients

  • 1/2 small apple, thinly sliced
  • 1/8 oz caramel candy, chopped (1 very small caramel)
  • Pinch of sea salt

Instructions

  1. Place apple slices on a microwaveable plate; top with caramel pieces. Microwave until caramel melts, about 30 to 60 seconds. Sprinkle with salt and eat immediately.
