6 Tbsp regular butter
3 cup(s) fat-free half-and-half
3/4 tsp black pepper
3/4 tsp table salt
1/2 tsp paprika, srinkle over top
30 oz Melissa's Pearl Onions, White, or about 3 pints fresh onions, peeled and trimmed
1/3 cup Bobs Red Mill Baking Flour, Gluten Free, All Purpose
1/2 cup Four Sisters And A Brother Bread Crumbs, Gluten Free, Roasted Garlic
- Trim root ends from onions; peel. Place onions in medium saucepan with 1/2 inch of water; cover.
Bring to a boil over high heat; reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer until fork-tender, about 15 to 20 minutes. Drain; set aside. Keep warm.
For cream sauce, melt butter in large saucepan over medium heat. Blend in flour with wire whisk until mixture is smooth.
Heat until mixture bubbles. Whisk in half-and-half. Cook, whisking constantly, until mixture thickens, about 5 minutes. Add salt and pepper. Stir in cooked onions. Place onions on serving platter. Sprinkle with dry bread crumbs. Sprinkle onions with paprika. I put the onion mixture in a small casserole, then add bread crumbs and paprika and reheat with the rest of the casseroles. 350 for 35 min.
