1 pound(s) dry pinto beans, rinsed and sorted
1 pound(s) uncooked 80% lean ground beef, torn into teaspoon-sized chunks
1 small uncooked onion(s), Sliced in half
30 oz canned diced tomatoes
2 Tbsp ground basil
1 Tbsp dried oregano
1 Tbsp garlic salt
- Fill 5 qt crock pot 2/3 full of water. Add rinsed beans, torn hamburger, onion, and spices. Cook on high for four hours. Add tomatoes, turn heat to medium and cook for four more hours. Serve with cornbread.
Change it up by adding garlic cloves, substituting sausage for the ground beef, or throwing in a cup of dry macaroni noodles an hour before serving (the last one will change the point value up by one point/serving).
