After getting the same results as everyone else with insufficient liquid and mushy wheat berries/green beans, I tried multiple adaptations because the flavors were so wonderful. I ended up with this now weekly staple:
Cook 32 oz broth, tomatoes, and all spices in crock pot on high until aromatic. Add all remaining ingred except wheat berries and green beans. Reduce heat to low. When celery, onions and pepper are soft, add pre-cooked wheat berries and green beans. Heat until hot and no more!
