I used red wheat berries and soaked them for 4 hours prior to putting them in the crock pot. I cooked on low for 8 hours, and high for 1 hour and it came out perfectly. I didn't want to refrigerate left over broth, so I used two full cans. Got lazy, too, and used frozen chopped onion and a 1# bag of frozen green beans. LOVE the blend of spices in this recipe.
